CHRISANN
BRAY
Aug 18, 1953 — Apr 8, 2026
Chrisann Bray Posas, beloved mother, grandmother, sister and friend, passed away April 8, 2026 surrounded by the love of her family. She was born, the youngest of four, on August 18, 1953, in Mercedes, Texas, to Roy Everett Bray and Anabel Reid Bray.
Chrisann grew up in Mercedes, Texas, where she attended high school and began building the strong foundation of faith, resilience, and determination that would define her life. In 1975, she married Juan “Johnny” Posas, and together they built a life centered on family, hard work, and unwavering support for their children.
Chrisann and Johnny raised their children on the Glen Roney Ranch and the Frank Yturria Ranch in Raymondville, Texas, where they lived a true ranching lifestyle. She worked cattle alongside her family, hunted, and taught her children to be strong, self-sufficient, and fearless—always reminding them not to let anyone tell them they couldn’t succeed.
She was a devoted mother to JoAnn McDonald, Jennifer Posas, and Bily Jack “BJ” Posas (Sheila Knight), and a constant source of encouragement in every part of their lives.
Chrisann had a strong work ethic and a heart for serving others. Over the years, she worked at the South Texas Onion Committee, Raymondville State Bank, and Raymondville ISD. She especially loved her role as secretary at Raymondville High School, where she built lasting relationships and found great joy in working with students and staff. Although she later tried her hand at real estate with Frank Solis Realty, she missed the school environment and the connections it brought her. After moving to the Austin area, Chrisann returned to what she loved most—working in education. She continued serving in school districts in Llano and Austin before finishing her career at Our Lady of Grace private school in Pleasanton. She took on a an administrative role at CPS for the surrounding counties where she was able to pray for and impact children and families lives until she retired.
Chrisann spent countless hours in rodeo arenas, announcer stands, and on the sidelines, faithfully supporting her children and later her grandchildren in rodeo, sports, stock shows, and FFA events. If her family had an event, she was there—cheering them on with pride and love.
She was a proud and loving grandmother to Mikayla Jo Posas (Charles Schmidt), Blain Reid McDonald, Cooper Bray Awbrey, Clayton Brody Awbrey, Kylie Hernandez (who preceded her in passing), Grady Wyatt Posas, and Hadley Faith Posas. She was also blessed with two great-grandsons, Trailin Schmidt and Cinco Hernandez.
Chrisann dearly loved her sister, Inalee Nolan, and the many adventures they shared together. Whether near or far, their time was always filled with laughter, stories, and an unbreakable bond. Together, they embraced life with laughter, love, and a spirit always ready for the next journey. She also leaves behind her beloved companion, Baby Kitty, who brought her comfort and joy.
She shared her love as a stepmother to Missy Guadiana (George), May Quiroga (Jesse), Perla Gonzalez (Rick), Melba Posas, Juan Posas Jr., and Senon “100” Posas (who preceded her in passing), along with many step-grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Her faith was the cornerstone of her life. She loved the Holy Spirit deeply and made it her mission to teach her children kindness, faith in Jesus, and how to live with strength and purpose. Chrisann found peace and joy in the simple things, especially the beach and the sound of the waves, out in the yard, watching a sunset—places where she could reflect, rest, and feel close to God.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Juan “Johnny” Posas; her brothers, Robert “Bob” Bray and Thomas “Tommy” Bray; and her granddaughters, Kylie Hernandez and Shayla Kay McDonald.
Her legacy lives on through the lives she shaped, the values she instilled, and the unwavering love she gave so freely. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, April 11, at 1:00 p.m. at Gateway New Testament Church in Pleasanton, Texas.
