Jose Antonio “Joe” Cortez

November 5, 1955 – July 30, 2026

Jose Antonio “Joe” Cortez, a true Jack-of-all-trades and a resident of San Antonio, passed away peacefully on July 30, 2026, going home to be with the Lord at the age of 70.

Born on November 5, 1955, to Adan Cortez and Gollita Garza, Joe lived a life marked by hard work, deep faith, and an immense love for his family. He was a loving and caring husband, father, grandfather, and son. Joe cherished his family above all else, especially his mother, Gollita, whom he loved dearly. His most cherished and important daily routine was calling her every single day.  Known for his warm heart, Joe was deeply loved by many friends and family members and leaves behind a legacy of kindness that will be greatly missed.

Joe is survived by:

• His loving wife: Evangelina Cortez
• His mother: GollitaCortez
• His children and their spouses: Julie and Mark Monceballez, Cody and TJ Zach, JoeJr.and Pamela Cortez, Bryan and Jennifer Pullin, Adam and Patricia Cortez,LeoCortez, and Penny Cortez
• Thirteen grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren
• In-laws: Martin and Mayela Ramirez

He was preceded in death by his father, Adan Cortez; his sister, Mary Ann Torres; and his grandfather, Ricardo Duenez.
