They don’t make men like this anymore.

It is with deep sorrow—and profound gratitude for a life so fully and faithfully lived—that we announce the passing of our beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, husband, and friend, Joseph Charles (“JC”) Fiorino who died peacefully in his sleep at home on April 23rd, 2026.

Through his 91 years, he lived with wisdom and an unwavering devotion to the people he loved. He leaves behind a legacy shaped not only by his accomplishments, but by the strength of his character, the steadiness of his faith, and the depth of his love for family.

A man of God first and always, he was a steady presence of prayer, strength, and unwavering faith. A devoted husband of 70 years, he loved his wife with a loyalty and tenderness that set the standard for everyone who knew him.

Born into a humble and financially poor background, and not learning to read until later in life, he carried within him a determination that defied circumstance. Through grit, faith, and relentless perseverance combined with those who helped lift him up, he built a life defined not by where he started, but by everything he chose to become. He served his country in the United States Air Force, worked as a lineman, and earned Bachelor and Master degrees from Texas A&I and A&M University. He became a respected teacher and author of countless electrical manuals for the Texas A&M Electrical Division and TXDOT—work that continues to serve others today. He believed in doing things right, doing them well, and doing them with purpose, and he lived it in everything he touched.

He was a loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and a true friend—showing up, standing firm, and loving deeply. He taught his family what mattered most: love the Lord, honor your country, tell the truth, keep your word, work hard, and live within your means. Simple lessons— but he lived them so fully, they became a legacy.

He was a handsome man with a quiet, unmistakable swagger, a sharp wit, and deeply held convictions, paired with a sense of humor that often caught you off guard. But more than anything, he was a protector—fiercely devoted to his wife and especially to his beloved special needs daughter, whom he cared for with a tenderness and strength that spoke far louder than words ever could.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 70 years, Wanda Neal, his son Joseph Charles Firoino Jr. and his wife Dawn, and his daughters Angela, Monica, and Anne Marie and her husband Gene along with generations who will carry forward his values, his stories, and his love. He was a proud grandfather to nine grandchildren: Clayton and his wife Jennifer, Amber and her husband Justin, Brent and his wife Morgan, Neal and his wife Jaycee, Ruthie and her husband Devin, and Richard, Joseph, Mary, and Matthew. He was also a cherished great-grandfather to eight great-grandchildren, Case, Leia, Makala, Kaden, Marson, Lindon, Devyn, and Charles.

A prayer vigil, rosary and viewing will be held on Tuesday, May 5th at 10:30 AM and Funeral Mass follows at 11:30 AM at the Mission of Divine Mercy, 1531 Indian Chief Trail, New Braunfels, TX 78132.

A memorial service celebrating his life will be held on Wednesday, May 6th at 11:00 AM at Holy Cross Cemetery, 17501 Nacogdoches Rd. San Antonio, TX 78266. All family and friends who knew and loved him are welcome to attend and honor a life so deeply and well lived.

In lieu of flowers, the family encourages acts of faith, kindness, and service—living with honesty, loving your family well, and carrying forward the values he embodied every day.

His life was not just well-lived—it was well-loved. And that kind of man leaves a mark that time doesn’t erase. He will be deeply, deeply missed—more than words can hold, but never more than he is loved.
