Nicola “Nick” Scheraldi, 85, of San Antonio, TX, peacefully passed away on July 26th, surrounded by his loving family. Nick was born on July 25, 1941 in Brooklyn, NY to Carmela and Philip Schiraldi. Known for his generosity, unique wit, and excellent cooking, Nick brought joy and wisdom to everyone who knew him.

Nick enlisted in the Army at age 17 and became a paratrooper in the 82nd Airborne Division. After three years of service, he began his career at ConEdison in New York City. Nick started out as a utility crew worker in the streets, became a foreman, and rose through numerous management positions, until he retired as the Head of Safety for Gas Operations after 35 years.

Nick was a devout Catholic and later became a Secular Franciscan. He lived in Orange County, NY for almost 40 years and loved being outside, taking pride in caring for his three acres of property. Nick could be found on his tractor, mowing grass or plowing snow, and he enjoyed visits from deer, turkeys, foxes, and the occasional bear. Inside the home, he was a talented cook who loved preparing delicious food for his family and friends, including recipes passed down from his parents. Nick also had a passion for history and sports, never missing a Mets or Jets game.

Nick is survived by his children: Robin (Dominick) Padovani, Filip Scheraldi, Nick (Larine) Scheraldi, and Barbara (Felipe) Martin, his grandchildren and great grandchildren, and a wide circle of extended family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Carmela and Philip Schiraldi, sister Palma Pauciullo, and grandson Kevin Donnelly.

A visitation and celebration of Nick’s life will be held at Infinity Church in San Antonio, TX on Thursday, August 20 from 5-8pm. A funeral mass will be held at Holy Trinity Church in San Antonio, TX on Friday, August 21 at 10am.
