Zonia
Salinas - Leyva
Sep 29, 1947 — May 30, 2026
Zonia Salinas-Leyva departed this world to be with our Lord Jesus Christ on May 30th 2026. She was born in Falfurrias, Texas on September 29th, 1947 to loving parents Oscar Salinas and Maria Guadalupe Cantu-Salinas. She was the eldest of her surviving siblings; Stella Chambers Marceo Salinas, and Marvella (Jimmy) Reynolds.
From early childhood she learned the term, “strength and resilience”. Zonia and her parents never let her disability get in the way of her life goals. She was a proud graduate of Robert E. Lee high school and worked in the healthcare industry and for a school district as a secretary.
Zonia was the loving and faithful wife to Roger Leyva. They were true soulmates, partners, and lovebirds. Where one was so was, so was the other. They had such respect and admiration for each other for many, many years until Roger’s death which left a long-lasting hole in Zonia’s heart. Now with our Savior’s love, they will be forever reunited.
Not only was Zonia a loving wife, sister, cousin, and friend, she was an amazing aunt, great aunt and great, great aunt to many nephews and nieces. Often, she would greet them with sweet treats and great home cooking. But, mostly love, kisses, and warm hugs.
Zonia was known for her very deep faith in Heavenly Father and was deeply involved in her church, Centro Cristiano Estanque De Siloe. Not only was she involved in her church she was also a proud member of the Southside Lions Club and was loved by all who knew her there.
Kind generous, always willing to give and receive hugs and kisses, Zonia will always have a special place in our hearts. Most importantly she will have a place in God’s kingdom. May her memory always be a blessing.
I would like to update everyone on Zonia’s Celebration of Life. It will be held at the above mentioned church on Sunday the 28th of June at 11 AM. The address is 610 J St, San Antonio, TX 78220. Thank you. - Marvella Reynolds
